It has truly been amazing to see the huge influx of small independent brands pop up over the past few years and I firmly believe they are here to stay as consumers seek out niche markets and smaller brands to stay loyal to.

After 12 years of working in the fashion industry as a designer for major retailers, I recognized this shift in the market and decided to move away from the corporate fashion world. I wanted to use my knowledge & skills to help guide individuals & smaller independent brands on their journey, setting them up for success.

For the past 2 years I have worked as a designer and consultant for fashion start-ups and entrepreneurs, often building their brands from scratch. I do a lot of 1:1 mentoring too, and it is during this time I have truly grasped an understanding of the common questions asked and usual mistakes brand owners make.

Whether you are in need of a designer or require help with starting a brand, my goal is always to help prevent you from making costly mistakes and really to grips with the fashion industry and the process involved.

Hey I’m Emma, it’s great to meet you!

I’m a Designer & Consultant and the Founder of Fashion and the Free.

Ever since I was 10 years old I knew I wanted to be a fashion designer. I did my first fashion internship when I was just 15 and continued doing internships in London and New York throughout my teens and early twenties. I graduated from University with a degree in Fashion and soon after landed my first job as a designer in London!

Over the past 12 years I have worked for globally known retailers in the UK and US including Debenhams, Primark and Urban Outfitters, designing best selling collections as well as working with some of the top luxury designers in the industry.

My work has been published in Vogue, Teen Vogue, Grazia and Marie Claire to name a few and my designs have often been spotted on several famous faces including Selena Gomez, Nicole Richie and Vanessa Hudgens.

In 2020 I became a Freelance Designer & Consultant and launched Fashion and the Free. I have since been working closely with established fashion brands, start-ups and entrepreneurs, designing their collections, consulting and helping build their brands from scratch.

Fun Fact- I’m British and have been living in the US for over 5 years. I currently live in sunny Southern California.
